Store renovations

There are many reasons why the store has to be renovated, remodelled for a facelift in its 10 year cycle or whenever the need arises.
Painting:
The approved vendor is Sherwin Williams
Paint for the walls is.............................. The cost is $         ( February 2012)
and for the area around the mailboxes the paint is....................The cost is $      (Feb 2012)
For the slat walls and bases of counter use a coating prepared by Sherwin Williams ,details below. The cost is $167 per gallon. The coating is air sprayed  ( and can be very messy) and everything in the store must be covered or removed altogather

WALL Paint
Sherwin Williams 1347 Nostalgia White (latex base, eggshell for walls/semi-gloss for trim). 
To be purchased thru an authorized dealer      

  • 2 coats of paint colour are to be applied to the WALLS only
  • The contractor is required to paint all walls throughout the store, including the back room and pack area.  Office & washroom is optional by Franchisee
  • White melamine above the mailboxes, wire chase at front counter or carton rack will need to be painted to the same colour as the walls, using special melamine paint
  • It may be necessary for the graphic ribbon to be removed to properly paint the walls

SLATWALL Paint
Sherwin Williams Polane 700T water based enamel
F63Wxh0516-8703 (base is white)

  • thoroughly sand the slatwall to improve adhesion & remove inserts
  • spray slatwall throughout the store, including any floor retail units that may have slatwall.
  • Paint will ‘air dry’ in 24 hrs.


CABINET Paint
Sherwin Williams Polane 700T water based enamel
F63Wxh0516-8703 (base is white)
  • All cabinetry will be painted with the “Worsted Tan” paint
  • Front counters: only the EXTERIOR of the cabinet requires painting The ‘Franchisee’ side of the front counter: does not require painting
  • Back counters: requires exterior painting ONLY (both sides of cupboard doors)
  • Pack Area:  no painting required
  • Carton rack:  no painting required
  • Paint all other modular millwork bases (ie. copy cubes etc. ) as per the spec. above




Carpets:
Order the carpet from Head Office in Oakville; Cost is $    (Feb 2012)
The carpets are shipped from the US so it is important you place your order and allow good lead time for the carpets to be delivered to you.

Trouble with EasyCash POS

The drawer does not open after tendering cash
If the drawer does not open after tendering check the printer for paper, power etc; the cash drawer is connected to the printer and if the printer malfunctions than the drawer will not open, not even with the No Sale option.

9 inch receipt for a $0.04 copy!
Do you really want to print a 9 inch receipt for a 4 cent transaction?
You can change the settings so that you only print a receipt when your customers needs one.
 You can reprint "duplicate" receipts after transactions and save on paper rolls
  
 3 decimal points 
Is your display showing 3 decimal points eg $1.070?
I found 3 decimal points confusing customers.
I had to call Nucomp for help and change to 2 decimal points 

Changing internet connection from wired to wireless will lock down the POS. 
We changed our internet connection from wired to wireless and the POS locked down.
According to Nucomp the POS locks down when it identifies "new" hardware.
We had to call Nucomp to solve the problem.
Nucomp does not recommend using wireless connections!

Exchange of Experiences

We started using our new POS on 01 April 2012; since then Ahmed Zin ( Store 122)  has been our sole source of help on how to use the cash register. With basic knowledge we succeeded in using the machine for the month of Apr 2012.
The POS is a powerful tool yet we are using it as a calculator... there are no comprehensive user manuals despite the fact that there are over 200 UPS Stores using the Easycash POS.
If all the users shared their teething problems on the usage of the POS then we would have a tome of a manual to refer to and save us the frustrations of figuring out how it works.
